The Power of Words

This is a follow-up of my last post.

Harshvardhan Navathe , Abhijeet Sawant and Piyush Srivastava(the guy who topped JEEs) . What do they have in common ? They are all overnight-celebrities thanks to the invasion of media into the homes of middle-class families . It's a new revolution and PAGE 3 is now your PAGE 1 !

And I sit here in Hyd watching Piyush on the front page of TOI . It's not that people in my times or people before my times never achieved such mammoth laurels but did they ever hit the Front Page ?

And thanks to a slew of niche newspapers and TV channels in the offing things cant help but become more interesting . Mumbai is already facing an onslaught of newspapers and the competition as it appears now will definitely make things more interesting in times to come . Who would know maybe , you hit the PAGE 3 tomorrow!!

The Power of a Click

Before you go through this post please visit http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_zero_gravity_pen.htm .

Now this better explains the purpose of this post . A few days back I received this crazy forward of the proposed Infy Manglore campus . Being vetti for more info i googled the image and found that the pics were actually of an amusement park coming somwhere in some other part of the globe. What is really strange , I had recieved that forward from friends who did not even work in Infy and I was really amazed and empowered at the power of the "click" of the mouse button . Do we actually bother to check the forward before sending it across to alnost everybody on our mailing list ? Nope. Who has the time , right .

This is not all . All those forwards that tell you that i need AB+ blood or showing an innocent pic of an ailing kid and asking for help are internet hoaxes . If this is not all , the Bhagat Singh forward which came back to all of almost after a year of its origin really sets the alarm ringing!!

Please execrise your discretion when you send a forward next time.

In response to Recycle Raga..

I remember facing "Things come a full circle" as a topic for my GD in the third year of my engineering . I spoke against the topic just because there was majority of junta speaking in favour of the topic and I intended to sound a little different . I did not realise the amount of gravity this phrase has till I read Gladwell's Tipping Point and I saw the way metreologists across the country are trying to drive home the India Inc that Monsoons in India follow a sine curve that is they are regular one year and irregular the other and really I have come to believe that things do come a full circle.

Be it Food , Music or Fashion . You have to see it to believe it. And the Calcutta of 60's in Parineeta really rocks!!

And so I dont agree with "old is not gold" .Old is gold and will always remains so . The way the old songs are being re-mixed and are being picked by gen next , the way my sister or you would have taken out those old short kurtis of my or your mother , the nose ring et al.

Things come a full circle .Everything follows a sine curve ; what goes up must come down.
It's just that the wine gets better with the age ;)

I had always cherished this one dream to study in a place where people form strong bonds -a strong community feeling which persists even after the course ends..a life beyond the boundaries of curricula . And I could sense that on my solitary-walks-in-the-wee-hours-of-morning when I saw groups sitting together , playing guitars and singing songs..I saw a firang croon with the group to Euphoria's "Maeri Ri" and it was really unbelievable..and I saw strong bonds being formed in just a span of four months...people embracing one another with tears in their eyes as they left for their final postings.

Some moments indeed live forever...
